COMPASS Community College Collaborative Volunteer
Tutoring Program

COMPASS for kids' COMPASS for homeless families program is seeking Volunteer Tutors for homeless and formerly homeless mothers engaged in the COMPASS Community College Collaborative
Tutors are needed to support women in accomplishing the following:
GED College courses College applications
ESOL progress Commitment: A volunteer Tutor must commit to a minimum
of 1.5 hours of group training and four weeks of a weekly hour of tutoring. Additional communication with the students
and/or the CCCC program may be needed. Upon review, and the agreement of all involved, tutoring may be continued for

Tutoring will take place in the shelter or apartment where a student
lives, or at another mutually agreed upon location. Tutors are currently needed to support the educational growth of
families living in:
Waltham, Everett, Malden, Dorchester, Boston, Haverhill
Minimum Qualifications:
Tutors must be 18 years old or older, a college graduate – or have some college education, and provide your own transportation.
Fall 2009 and Winter 2009/2010 Tutor Training Sessions are currently scheduled as follows:
- Wednesday December 2nd, 7:00-8:30 PM, Lexington, MA (location to be determined) - Thursday January 7th, 4:00-5:30
PM, Cambridge, MA (location to be determined) - Friday January
22nd, 9:30 - 11:00 AM, Roxbury Community College
